Awards given to talented youths

Set4Success, the charity which helps young talented sports people who live or go to school in the Horsham District, made another 14 awards in February following the original 13 awards made in 2011, the launch year of this ambitious scheme. 

The Winners, as well as receiving a monetary award, will receive a pass to DC Leisure’s facilities for one year and will be invited to an Award Ceremony in May.

All the winners, selected from 27 applications by a panel representing a number of Horsham’s sports bodies, have already displayed tremendous ability in their chosen sport with most of them having already competed at national level. The successful applicants covered a wide range of different disciplines including cricket, hockey, soccer, gymnastics,rugby, golf, swimming, trampolining,  dancing and badminton, and ranged in age from 10 to 17.

The award winners are Thomas Haynes (cricket); Beth Britton (swimming); Dan Malov (dancing); Sarah Gray (badminton); Quentin Coole (gymnastics); William Duffin (dancing); Victoria Rudderham(trampolining); Cameron Lambourne (swimming); Sean Richardson (rugby); Marco Penge (golf); Harry Harrod (gymnastics); Amelia Frett (hockey); Georgia Frett (football); Lucy Wood (hockey).    

The charity relies on the financial support of local businesses, schools and individuals and wishes to thank Spofforths, Ringway, ATOM, Sony DASD, Wakefields Jewellers, Treetop Design and Print, Southern Water, The Rotary Club of Horsham and DC Leisure for their continuing support; and Millais School for organising an event to raise funds. For more details visit www.set4success.org
